An explosion at The Washington state home of Josh Powell, long considered a “person of interest” in his wife Susan’s disappearance, has killed Powell and his two sons. The incident occurred moments after a Child Protective Services worker brought the boys to Powell’s Washington state home for a supervised visit.
Powell, who lost custody of the boys in September to their grandparents, reportedly allowed the boys in the house, then immediately prevented the social worker from entering. Seconds after the social worker called her supervisors to report that she could smell gas, the home exploded.
Last week, Powell lost a renewed effort to re-gain custody of his children, or to at least to remove them from the custody of the grandparents who have publicly questioned Powell’s role in their daughter’s disappearance..
Susan Powell was reported missing Dec. 7, 2009 and since that time many, including the authorities, have questioned her husband Josh’s account that he took his sons on a late-night camping trip the night Susan went missing.
When contacted about the news, ABC News Legal Analyst (and Mediaite founder) Dan Abrams who has covered the Powell case said:
